I cannot be attacked when I'm timid, or the effect can be pretty nasty.

I am forced to focus more on defense,
and my defense mechanism has always been to take one step back,
to stay away.

(And, honestly, the last thing I would want is to have anyone go through that again,
especially when that person happens to be very dear to me.)

. . . .I just really wish it would stop.
